Will any other engine fit in place of a worn out 359T? Was wondering about a 466 . . .the 359 was always underpowered anyway for that machine. Mike

I would find a wore out 7700 turbo combine and put that engine in there. A step up in power for the payloader and its a 414 so it should bolt in.

According to parts catalog #1167 the 7700 combine had a 6404 which won't interchange with a 6414

No, a 7700 turbo engine is a 404, it won't bolt up,,it would be nice if it would..

Any of the 329-359=414 engine family will fit, I have put a few 329"s in 544"s and they work out okay, there are several of those loaders around here that I take care of,,, as for tractor engines 4030,2940,2950,2955 all will inter change

Those are all Dubuque built engines, correct? Didnt the 4400 diesel combines use a 329 also? Those seemed like good engines.

A combine engine would be a cheap easy way back up and running again. I think some, but not all of the 6600 combines had that engine too.

Mike I think your right. I think the early level land 6600s did use that engine. Yes it would be cheap and easy. The engine thats in it is factory turbocharged. I dont believe anything less would be that great though. It sees heavy use and those transmissions really seem to demand power. Also, the hyd load on the engine just adds insult to injury. I know this is no comparison, but I operated a 644 J once, that was a beast and the shift was way improved over the E series. Was fun to run and then some. Mike

I put the turbo stuff over on the donor engine, they actually feel decent in power, of course the original engines were tired before the swap, so anything was better, and the owners wallet felt better too...

Yes all the 4400 diesels were 329's and some early 6600's were too,,that's what I have been putting into some of these old ones around here, they work out good, most of them are used in auto salvage yards and a few saw mills.

Isnt the 414 and 6.8L or 6068 the same engines, except for maybe the newest powertech common rail fuel system engines? Most were used in power units:air compressor, generators, etc. maybe look on websites such as machinery trader or something like that for used ones for sale.

I though I should have known of a 414T other than in a power unit; in a 750 crawler.

This one has a 329 combine engine natural aspirated it does a good job, these old loaders are just a bit "Doggy" acting anyway with the way the torq converter is.
