I was wondering how the decals were on the john deere 530 from the factory? I see some tractors that look original with decals straight on the top of the yellow and some that are at an angle at the bottom of the yellow. Repainted ones seem to be put on straight at the top. Thanks for your help. |

| Yes it was repainted at some time in its life. The JOHN DEERE decal on the hood is to far back. Also lots of people paint the axle yellow because it is easier than taping it off. The axle should not be painted. Also on the 30 series the generator is painted Green and the dash Black. |

| Maybe this picture of an 1959 original 530 helps.

| Thank you. That is a clean straight tractor! I'm sure the one I'm looking at has been repainted at some time. So if i make the deal, I will more than likely repaint it again. They look nice all fixed up, but once they have been repainted, they will never be "original" ever again! |

| Sorry, the 5-3-0 is what I was wondering about. So the "origonal" 530 I'm looking at with the numbers at an angle is not "original" then? I couldnt tell that it has ever been repainted but thought this might be a way to help me figure out if it was ever repainted. Thanks for your info. |

Another easy way to tell is that on an original yellow sided hood, is that the yellow was not paint, but a decal. Ought to be able to see frays on the edges by now, and many fade to white. |

If you mean the model number, 5-3-0, they were straight. there is even a slight difference between the numerals depending on the year. There was a nice explanation of this in one of the magazines some time back.
On the models that used script numerals, 5-2-0, or '60' or '70', those were tilted at 28 degrees. I think that is the number. I have it recorded somewhere and could look it up. |
