I have a 72 4020 PS that will not stay in park. How big of a deal is it to repl. the Pawl in the trans? |

| I put a pawl into an earlier model and it was kinda a big job. I did cut some corners as the book wanted you to remove the whole rear end or powershift pack ? I forget which ? I was able to remove the L&D shaft and get the control arm to move over out of the way enough to get it out. This one had a broken pawl. |

It's possible the cable is rusty not allowing for full park pawl engagement. You would have to remove floorboard and trans cover to access park pawl.

| And that cable is only $210.10 from John Deere. I spent a couple of hours getting mine so it was free. time well spent. |
