I cleaned and resealed the pump in my standby generator. This great new diesel fuel had gummed it up. I now have it back on and running. It runs great, very crisp throttle response, seems to be running right.
My problem is that I am not getting any fuel into the governor housing- if I open a screw, I get no fuel.

How long should it take to fill the body of the pump with fuel? I have only run it a few minutes, does it take longer than this?

You can check the shaft seals by taking the return line off at the pump and with it running put your finger or thumb over the fitting and if sealed the engine will die and if not the fuel is leaking into the crankcase.

I'll try that tomorrow, although I think the only fuel I have at the return line right now is from the injectors.

There are many moving parts inside that pump that have to leak. No rubber seals, just metal to metal. All the fuel that leaks fills that housing and eventually comes out the the return fuel fitting. If it runs - and your 100% sure the fuel isn't leaking into the engine-oil sump past the driveshaft seals - it has to fill up pretty quick.

Are you sure you didn't mess up those driveshaft seals and all the excess diesel isn't going into your crankcase? Check your dipstick.

I thought the lip seals on the shaft went in good, but I may have to pull the pump apart again and check them. The bushing was new about 50 hours ago so I know that isn't worn.
Oil level looks good but I haven't run it more than a few minutes

I filled the pump body with fuel, let sit ovenight. Level was same. I started generator , removed top bleed screw and pump filled up. I let it run a half hour, everything seems good.
I guess I"ll just keep an eye on the oil level as I use it to see if level rises.
Thanks for the help guys
