All 86 and 87's had the air to air intercooler mounted between the rad and the water pump. Cool air from a scoop below the coolant rad. A small crank mounted fan moved some air through the intercooler. There is a modified factor intercooler that is "Stretched" lower/longer and has the improved outlet. Still have the factory chrome steel rims with the turbo6 design? Somebody went to a lot of work to swap in a clutch , a BOP pattern belhousing and a transmission that could handle the torque. A beefed up TH200R4 is faster and reliable. Needs the hardened stator support, larger servo pistons, larger 2nd gear band, front pump upgrade, pressure regulator valve upgrade, extra clutch packs and a few other tweaks. Will handle a 500+HP turbo as long as some knob doesn't rev the engine then yank the trans into gear. |
