Finally got the carb figured out thanks to everyone who threw in advice (can't remember who but you know who you are)
Anyway, took the carb apart and everything seemed to check out. The one thing that someone mentioned is not having enough pressure pushing the fuel into the carb.
Well, I think that was the issue. After I got everything put back together with the fuel tank, new sediment bowl, etc. put on we pulled it maybe 5 feet and it popped right off and ran great! However it labors like its pulling a 5 bottom plow and the timing is way off. There is way to much advance in it. I think the guy who rebuilt the mag has the lag angle adjusted way off.
Thats a simple fix really, no big deal.

Almost every single tractor I have ever had with a mag have shown up here with the left plug hooked to the bottom.

| The #1,flywheel side plug should be wired to the upper tower on the mag.

| Looks to me like the plug wires need to be reversed at the mag.

| I have to disagree with gtx. If you are firing before the marks on the flywheel and case cross,you are to far advanced. Ron Mn.

| You are correct- it looked like the right side of picture was the front of tractor when I looked at it :-)

| Looks to me like its firing LATE (retarded) as evidenced in
both pictures. Rotate the mag counter clockwise until your
AT the mark. To do this, have the engine OFF, put the mark
on the line, then rotate the mag SLOWLY back until it fires.
Now tighten it in place. That's it on a hand crank tractor, the
run timing is mechanical advance in the mag.
