Filling hy-gard fluid in my '78 2640. I know that tractor needs to be level and running at idle. What I am not sure about is do I read the level with the dipstick resting on top of the threads or screw it down and back to get the correct level?
Thanks! |

| Tim, the owners manual I got when I bought my 2640 said to check the trans oil with the engine running.... setting on the threads. |

| It would depend if you want an average reading or a precise reading. Either way would suit my taste. I suppose the temperature of the oil would also be a factor. I would just make sure it stays between the marks. |
