I had a junk dash in my 435 that needs to be replaces, it is like one on left side of photo with the hole in it. THe one with whole in this picture is off a 440, the one on right with no hole is off a 430. I really don't see much differences. I also have another 435 with dash with no hole. I just recently picked up a 440 gas tractor for parts, and the dash is better shape, but no hole. Does anyone see any issue with using this. The main difference i see is no holes for the serial tag. Everything else seems fine. THanks for your help. |

The 440 and 435 tractors have holes in the middle for the steering wheel shaft. The 440 gas and diesel crawlers do not have that hole. Also, the 1960 model 440 gas and diesel have the throttle in the middle. It is a long slot.

I think the dash with the hole in it is off a 440 crawler and the hole was for the one lever steering that didn't work out and most of them where redone. I could be wrong.

Attached a picture of the dash on my 435. Never thought much about it, but it does have the hole you are talking about in the center. Could not tell you what it is used for (has no purpose on my 435); Id say youd be fine with the 440 dash without a hole. . . difference could be gas vs. diesel engine. If your 440 has the gas engine it may not have the hole in the dash. I know a 430 dash will not work as I think the hood mounting is different than a 440 or 435 dash.

Well the dash i am looking at using is off 440 gas, with no hole, and it seems 440 should all have same dash i would think. I'll do some more research. But my other 435 has dash with no hole, and has tag in spot above just like the others.

Well both my other 435 and the 440 gas i am parting out have the same no hole in middle dash, so i am probably going to just use that one. Same part number too. THe stuff is in place tho to put a steering shaft in a crawler dash, the instrument panel is just different too.
