I was looking through some classied ads earlier tonight and found a 4-bottom 2600 for sale. Was wondering about the strengths and weaknesses of these plows as they are pretty rare in my neck of the woods. My main question would be if they are a decent plow in heavy corn stalks. |

WE had a 2800 6 bottom and my uncle had a 2800 4 bottom. I think these were the same as 2600 only variable width. Plowed 10 years with these plows They plowed alot of cornstalks straight and did a good job. Very good plow Denny

We had a 2800 7 bottom hydro wide, it was a great plow, you could plow small square bales under with it, corn stalks were no problem, even on high yeild corn...we pulled it with an 8640 in the furrow, we have one 5X16 2600 left, it hasn"t been hooked up for several years, we pulled it with a 4440.

The 2600 is the big metric plow. It is convertable from 18 to 20 inch bottoms. My buddy has a 4 bottom behind his 4020 with m&w turbo. That is the best plowing plow I have ever used. I tend to agree that jd plow and heavy corn stalks don't mix, but the 2600 plow is the exception. I have only ever plugged it up once, but it lifts so high that the stuff falls out the bottom. If you are in the market for a plow, buy that one. You won't be dissapointed! Tim

JD never had a good plow for cornstalks. So many JD pulled 720 IH plows. For better results, get a White 548. Less maintenance, better furrow. I've run both at the same time, hands down, the White lays a better furrow. I could drive by my fields while the kids were plowing, and tell which plow was where. JD never had much for tillage equipment.
