As a precaution, it would be advisable to check the flywheel and Clutch-Driver for looseness or wear..

It seems that you are saying that you do not hear that sound at start-up or idle..??

Ron..

That's correct it only makes the noise when the tractor/PTO starts to work harder.

Just to be sure to probably eliminate the engine from this noise, have the engine idle and while running, pull one plug wire off and see if that noise appears..do this with each cylinder..

Does that sound go away and never appear when the PTO is not engaged..??

Ron..

The noise seems to be PTO related and only happens when the PTO is engaged and the PTO equipment bogs down with a heavier load. I can mow a long way in peace and then hit a clump of really thick and heavy grass and then it clunks and clanks like a metal shucking noise pretty bad until I get back into the normal pasture grass. The only other time I ever hear a noise from this tractor is when I try to start out in 6th gear I get a few clunks till I get going BUT I'm not sure the two situations are related. The motor itself runs great so I'm thinking it has to be something from the clutch back? Maybe a bad bearing somewhere inside??

Does it do this when on another PTO powered implement..??
Could it be that the Slip Clutch is chattering when under a Heavy Load..??

Ron..
