Working on a 4000 that has no hydraulics for 1-2 minutes after tractor sits for an extended period of time (a week or more). If the tractor is run daily the problem is not noticed. Main pump has to be losing its prime some how. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

| Another possibility could be something stuck in the charge line check valve located on the side of your transmission. My 2520 had a piece of metal stuck in there holding the valve open. |

There are no 4000 compact utility tractors but there was a 4010 CUT. |

| You are correct. I was thinking 4000 series. Wonder if there is a loader on the tractor or any other alterations /additions to the tractor? |

| For one thing are you keeping your foot on the clutch pedal as you start it?? The transmission pump will not turn, or pump till the clutch is up. #2 the transmission pump could be worn enough to take a moment to pick up prime. #3 there could be a component leaking internally causing a bleed off. On late model 4020"s and 4000"s the PTO valve is often the cause for a leak off. |

| If it's loosing it's prime, the oil has to be replaced with air, probably on the suction side of the pump, since a leak on the pressure side would show up as an oil leak when it's running. An air leak on the suction side would also explain why it takes so long for the pump to load. |
