My 4240 PS sometimes gives a buzz or zinging noise seemly comming from under the cowl behind the dash. Everything works as it should and the buzz seems to be more evident when on the road or driving in the field as compared to say using the loader to unload bales. The steering metering pump was replaced 1500 hours ago because of a major leak. I noticed in the parts break-down the steering valve has a little filter inside. This has never been changed. The steering is not affected but it is a weird noise that lasts for half a second or so. It seems to be happening more often and is kind of un-nerving. Any thoughts. Thanks in advance.....Ron |

| I wonder if it could be the brake accumulator leaking internally?? |

| The filter you are talking about is "Rarely" a problem. I'm thinking that you have a vibration from some thing loose under the dash,,check that out first... |

| I've never seen or heard of changing the little filter but it would be worth a try. JD engineers put the filter in there for some reason. I would think the noise would be caused by the valve and not the steering pump.
