I have a two bottom three point plow. Its John Deere but its missing the id tag. I was plowing the garden when the first bottom broke away, now it won"t reset. I have a feeling that it is just gummed up with old grease. It looks to me like I can drop the whole bottom by taking out the one bolt that the breakaway pivots on. Is this right? I know that a picture would help but thats not possible right now. Thanks for any help!

The part BushogPapa & AJB-830 are referring to to put a an adjustable wrench(Cresent) on is parts key 11A or 11B. The rollers(parts keys #27-30) are different outside diameters to require more or less resistance for tripping.

You should be able to move the Latching Lever fairly easily with a Crescent Wrench..
If it is stuck in the tipped down position, raise it back up..or Visa-versa...

I would also take a large adjustable wrench and see if you can work the roller up & down. I believe there is a spring that pulls the roller back after it trips. Could be the spring is broke or all rusted up. You can manually trip these bottoms with a wrench to make share replacement easier.

Yes you can remove the pivot bolt, but instead just set the plow down as or when you back up and it should latch, if not raise the plow put your foot on the mole board rear brace and shove it down,. They latch with a little resistance and depending on how heavily it has been bushed for tripping resistance, they do reset pretty hard.As for gumming up , not to my knowledge, may be a little rusted. Before re latching , make sure ROLLER is free and LUBED.
