I'm not familiar at all with combines so i thought you guys could help me out. One of these days i might want to look into getting a combine to aid in my field corn harvest, i don't need anything big, 2 or 3 row head at the most, a pull type with a corn head would probably work fine, what are some good models? and did they ever make a PTO powered combine?

my neighbor has a 6600 with cab, that is way to big for me, what are some smaller ones with or without cab that are dependable?

Had a 4 row corn head on my 4400 years ago. Worked fine. Once saw one with a two row 38" on it but the wheels had to be turned " dish in" to fit down the rows. It was kind of tippy.

is the 3300 or 4400 combine quite a bit smaller than the 6600? My fields are spread out so i need something i can get down the road with, i've seen these models at a pretty good price from time to time.

My neighbor had a NIpicker sheller way back in the day. Seemed to work well.

They're kind of hard to find, but a NI picker with a sheller unit is a pull type and they were in 30 or 40"- 2 row pickers. Great for a smaller operation.

Deere made a model 300 corn picker for ear corn. They also did make combines thet were pto driven, but most were used out west in wheat.

The model #40 was offered in a pull type (#42 I think) but they would be a rare find by now..

Father-in-law had a IH with a 3 row head - didn't like it. Seems the wheels kepr running on the rows, causing machine to "wobble" back amd forth all the time. Finally traded for a larger machine - problem solved.
