70D 09-28-2012 15:11:12 63.252.247.202 Report to Moderator	Ive been having quit a bit of carburetor trouble and I blaming it on the the gas with ethanol in it.I know that the ethanol can drawl moisture leaving your carb a victim for corrosion etc when you don't run it regular so do you drain the carb or leave gas in it [Reply]   [No Email]

jd_adict 09-28-2012 19:13:16 216.46.151.13 Report to Moderator	Re: Drain or not to Drain in reply to 70D, 09-28-2012 15:11:12   I always shut off the fuel to the carbs. this prevents unwanted fuel into the engine oil if the floats stick. especially my dubuque tractors. BUT I also mix a small amount of chain saw oil into my gas tanks to prevent rusting. I have done this for the last couple years and have notice less rust in my carbs and gas tanks. this new gas washes the gas tanks very clean and they rust from sitting. a little chain saw oil coats the tanks and carbs and prevent rust. I also use a little seafoam and a tractor can sit for a whole year and start right up. I buy it by the case. [Reply]  [No Email]
pbb 09-28-2012 17:00:28 216.163.26.175 Report to Moderator	Re: Drain or not to Drain in reply to 70D, 09-28-2012 15:11:12   I got a unstyled tractor.Thats how i shut mine off is to turn the gas off and let it run out the gas until it dies.My tractor ran good for 3 years until about a month ago it started flooding out like the float was hung.I took the carb apart and the float shaft was rusty and the bottom of the bowl was rusty from moisture.So I run my carb out of gas and open the drain petcock every time and still got moisture in my carb. I got lucky and theres a gas station in my town that sells 100 percent gas.Thats what im running now.It wouldnt hurt to run some Sea Foam either to help with moisture. [Reply]  [No Email]
