A gentleman I know somewhat has a 2520 Power Shift that had the wrong oil put into it and is now facing a lot of repair work. I know of an older 3020 that has a bad engine and some other issues but the feeling is the Power Shift in that was good. Somebody was saying the parts would fit from the 3020. I see some part numbers are the same but some are not. What do you think?

Thank you all for responding. Probably not very many late side console 3020's for parts around?

They are rare,,But a lot of the parts are similar in the older one's,,it will just take time to work all of it out,,

The 2520 PS input shaft is common only to the 2510/2520 not the 3020. The PS front clutch pack drum(R59494) is common to the 2520 & late model 3020 but according to JD not the early model 3020

Yes, I would think most things similar would be in the Late 3020..beings the build dates would be close...I have never had a 2510/2520 power shift apart,,only ever saw 1 or 2 around here..

The 3020 was built in 1965.

I guess I haven't ever thought about that before,,,But it's not likely that the wrong oil did a lot if any damage to the power shift, the older ones had brass linings in them,,the problem "may" be that the brake linings, which are susceptible to damage from wrong oil, plugging up the sump screen and restricting oil for transmission operation..have him check the screen first, then do some pressure checking, his problem may not be as bad as it seems...Those older power shift brass clutches were good and tough..

I am not really close to the situation but I guess he has the tractor already partially disassembled and noted the drums were chewed and a couple of gears have broken teeth. He bought it several years ago and it showed signs of serious neglect (the oil among the other issues) but he said he bought it cheap and knew there was a risk to the tractor. He is trying to find a cheap way out but has plenty of other tractors so he is not desperate. I just know of a guy that is trying to unload a 3020 gas with a bad motor and maybe he could do better selling to this guy versus a yard. He's already taken the good sheet metal, tires, remote valves and coupler bodies off for other projects.

So he is into it and sees damage,,there is a strong chance the 3020 stuff will work, but I have never tried it. I have a 4960 in here now that needs the Planetary brake pack RE237934 $10,700
