Looking at a non running 520 with good tires on back and new tires on front. Sheet metal ok except for grill. Needs new screens. Tractor not running but engine isn"t stuck. 3 point hitch
Any idea of value. Thank you.

Beware. I overhauled my "tired" 520 engine. Ended up costing me about $1500 and I did everything except the machining.

$1500 is dirt cheap.
A 520 is the ultimate B.

Where at? LOL. There's a lot of difference in opinion and condition but the ones I see in good looking non running shape usually sell in the 2 thousand range. Most of those end up in salvage :( so you can't really get hurt. Those things are pretty simple, if it ran when it was parked it wont take much to make er go again. I wouldn't be afraid of it one bit. Check the electricals, clean the Carb, and make sure the valves work, it should run. And then run it

I know the tractor was running ok when owner sold his cattle and parked it about 8 yrs ago. He is now 96 and would like to sell.

Ask the current owner to remove the oil filter and cut it open. A few metal particles are normal (this is what filters are for). If it is full of metal figure on a complete rebuild.

If it wasn't that hard and didn't take to much to get it running why hasn't the owner fixed it? The fact it's not running should be a red flag. Of course the other way to look at it is as much as we like old iron it's often worth more in parts then a s a running unit IF you can sell all the parts

If the engine Block is good and that is a correct 3-Point and the tires are Good..$2,000.oo would not be out of the question..

A JD 520 is a pleasure to own and operate..and have good power...

Depends on why it is not really running, does not take much to make them run unless something bad (expensive) is wrong.
One of the old seller tricks is to sell it not running and say it will only take a little something to make it run. Many tractor guys like that kind of challenge. They get her home and find out that all it takes is a complete rebuild and loads of $$$$.
