Bought a 3 disc John Deere breaking plow today. Never have saw one before, were there many of these made?? Didn't look to see if any numbers were legible, but John Deere was very plain. I have a 1520 John Deere tractor, close to 50 horsepower, is this big enough tractor for the plow??

You're correct. I wasn't thinking 3pt. 472 is one 3pt model number.

There were also a number of 3pt. disk plows that came with 3 bottoms, so to speak.

JD made several different models of drawn disk breaking plows. In my youth I plowed with a JD 404 many rounds. There were many of those types plows used in N. Texas. The models that come to mind are 90,100,200,300,400,500 & 600. There were 2 variations, clutch lift & hyd cyl lift depicted by an "H" following model number. The last digit in model number indicated the number of disks IE the 404 I plowed with was a model 400-4 disk. Disk plows pull easier than same size moldboards because of the rolling action of the disks. Your 1520 should pull the 3 disk plow fine.
