Just did a total rebuild on a G. Started it for the first time the other night and it will peg the oil pressure guage at about half throttle. Which way do you turn the adjustment to turn it DOWN? My book doesn't say which direction does what and as high as it is I don't want to turn it the wrong way experimenting and mess something up. |

Turning in increases the oil pressure, turning out decreases it. Turning that screw in puts more pressure on the end of a coil spring that presses against the relief valve reed, so turning in requires the pump to make more pressure before it can lift the reed and vent the excess oil to the sump. Not uncommon for the pressure to increase after an overhaul since you probably reduced a lot of bearing clearances. The before relief valve setting was needed to pump extra oil to fill those clearances which were constantly leaking at a high rate into the crankcase.
