My 4620 is engine is locked up. I think it"s hydraulic locked with fuel. A couple weeks ago it turned over fine but the battery was too,low to crank it. I got the neighbor to tow it back to the house and I tried to crank it by towing it in 7th gear... it just slid the rear tires.
I put a hot battery on it and it turned maybe an 1/8 of a turn and that"s it. I have a question... is there a special wrench to remove the injectors? I"d like to remove them and turn it over a couple times to see if it is hydraulic lock. Is there another way to do this?

By pulling not in tow position gets very expensive. As Jim stated it doesnt take very far to quald the top shaft I have seen it happen in less than 1/4 mile. For the motor to be locked from fuel I havent seen that.8th gear would be better and if you dont have power to pump it wont start

If trans is the locked in gear you will have to depress clutch pedal to crank engine.

I don't think it's locked in gear. The selector (shifter) works freely and I can feel the teeth meshing...

If i remember correctly, the 4620 has pencil injectors. If so you will need a puller.

Hmmm, I think that's going to be over my head. I don't understand how the injector is actually put together... I do understand how it works. I think I'll try something else.

I'm just a fumbler, but if I didn't have the correct tools, I'd take the valve cover off and turn each exhaust side rocker arm in a bit past zero lash so the valve stayed off its seat by .005" or so, so the fluid can squirt past and into the exhaust manifold. Start with the one exhaust valve that is sure to be in lash adjustment position, so watch how far you have to turn that one in to get to zero, then on a bit more, then turn in the other five the same amount.

I think that's what I'll try... I'm a fumbler too. I kept trying to think about a way to hold a valve open manually (with someone's help), never dawned on me to adjust the lash to hold the valve open slightly. Seems like the easiest thing to do since I'm an old drag racer, I've adjusted the lash 1000's of times. Thanks for the "rather obvious" help!

If it's a Syncro-range I hope you put trans selector in the tow position before pulling it very far or you could have galled so gears to the top trans shaft .

I may have messed something up... it is a manual trans. I pulled it in gear with the trans in 7th. Since I was going down hill behind my neighbors tractor, I had to use the cluth/in gear braking to keep from running over the tractor pulling me (no hydraulics for the brakes). Only slid the tires a couple times to try and crank it, pretty easy to tell something wasn't right.
I'm not worried about this tractor, paid $1,500 for it 5 years ago... and $1,500 for a rotary cutter, we've got our monies worth. I'm glad you gave me the heads-up on potential damage... If I didn't put the nail in it's coffin, I'll remember not to tow it from now on... Thanks

You will be lucky to save the engine parts from trying to pull start it. Usually bends rods and breaks cranks, and sometimes trans parts. You will have better luck pulling the injectors for sure.

Actually, I didn't realize it was locked up until I put a hot battery on it, after pulling it. I thought maybe the compression was too high to pull start.
When I did put the hot battery on it and figured it was locked up... bent rod was my first thought. I figure the rods are pretty beefy... I'd be surprised if it's damaged. Maybe so, but I hope not,
