Just changed the oil in our "new" 2510 gas for the first time. Drained the oil, replaced filter (with a JD filter), and added 7 quarts like the manual says. Started it and ran it. Checked oil. Oil level is about 1 inch above top arrow on stick. I assume the top arrow is the "full" line. It"s as if it has a quart too much in it. Is it OK or should we drain some out? Thanks for your help. |

| Yep. Just like Kansas says. Dad bought his new spring 1966. He filed another mark in the dipstick! Many years since then, I bought a 2520,and JD service manual. In there it gives a dimension for heighth of the dipstick tube. I found they both needed to be raised some. But not a quart's worth! I just run 6- 6.5 quarts in both of them now, keeping it in the original lines. |

| Don't know why but the 2510's seem to be like that. My 2510 runs above the full mark as well. neighbor has had a 2510 since new and it is the same way. We both put in the 7 quarts just like the books say. So we both keep the oil level on same place even if it reads over. I haven't had any problems and like I said my neighbor bought his new and it hasn't ever given him a problem. I have a skid steer the same way. I followed the book and even used a measureing cup to make sure and it still runs over full. |

| If it's only one quart over it's not going to hurt anything at all. As long you are in the "Safe" zone. It's OK.. |
