On a 70 gas, the hydraulic pump has a on-off lever that turns to engage the hydraulic pump. The shaft and gear that it engages with, the bushing went out and the shaft turned and egged the hole for the shaft. I got a used governor housing, and in cleaning it up, there appears to be oil galleries in it for the shaft to be lubricated. I set the housing on the block, and the oil galleries don't connect to anything. There is a recess in the block that looks like oil can come up thru, but nothing connects them. Is the housing and shafts splash lubed or am I missing some parts?? The galleries were plugged, I ran a wire thru them and sprayed carb cleaner thru them and have them cleaned out. I didn't find anything to connect the oil lines when I took it apart. Should I just grease the shaft lightly and put it back together? There is a oil line on the outside that goes to the fuel shutoff and oil pressure guage, but doesn't look like it branches off to lube the housing.I took pictures but couldn't find the cable for the camera to upload them. HELP!!! Chris |

| Well most seem to have oil coming up thru a hole to gov. houseing, just the gasket connects. For piece of mind why dont you take the spark plugs out and crank it and see if oil starts to come out a hole in bolt pattern where gov.case bolts on. Oh yeah I would get rid of that oil powered gas shutoff I had to do a crank grind thanks to one of those. |
