My 3020 has developed a hydraulic leak right under the tool box (left side). THis is not the load shaft this is what I think is called the rockshaft arm. It leaks and runs down tractor and drips on ground by the sump screen. Is this a seal leaking and what is the best way to pull that arm off. Thanks.

It could be the return line leaking in that area, I have never changed a rock shaft seal on a Waterlou tractor ever,,this don't mean it can't happen, but look closer by removing the tool box/side cover..

Tim, I have looked closely and it appears to be leaking at the seal and not the return line. I wonder what is the best way to pull that arm off. Thanks

They are on a tapered spline, not much of a way to put a puller on it,,,if you could get a good swing on it you may jar it loose with a big hammer, but not much room for a good hit...just hitting it on the side good and strong may jar the taper enough to let come..I'm wondering why it started to leak there,,,possibly trans pump oil leaking and spraying in that direction?? Be nice to put a bore camera into the bung hole plug and take a look...It's just very odd that it's leaking there...not doubting what your seeing...

I do hear hissing sound in the rockshaft control valve, dont know if this has anything to do with it, but lift works good. THe leak has gotten pretty bad throughout the summer and is now making a mess. I also have a roll guard on the tractor and it looks like it could be in the way if the arm has to come off very far.

Yes it will be in the way,,if I had it here I would first stick the bore camera in and take a look, then I would remove the rock shaft so I could get to it better...while I was in there I would take a look at the trans pump too...there is a square cover on the under side of the rock shaft, I have seen them crack and spray oil on the inside,,I feel that some thing is spraying towards that seal...it's up out of the oil far enough not to be challenged by normal leakage..
