I am interested in buying a compact tractor. I was looking at a 1026, and a 3005 at the county fair. Is the bigger tractor worth the extra money? Thanks |

| It all depends on what you are planning on using it for as these tractors are very different. The 1026 would be in the same class as my Massey GC2300. This tractor is my lawnmower for our 5-acre plot (it mows everything, even around the house) and I also use it some in the garden, blading snow, and running a log splitter. It's a very handy little tractor that is more like a superduty garden tractor than a compact utility. What it will not do is lift heavy implements and the loader would only handle around 500 lbs (this is why I haven't bought one). The 3005 is substantially more tractor; it weighs about 50% more than the subcompact. If lawn mowing will be a primary task, this is not a good thing. But, if you are planning on larger implements or a loader this weight would be a real advantage. Note that the 3005 has a gear transmission which would be less handy for a lot of chore tasks. |

| That 1026 is the new Deere you are talking about...Yes? That 1026 seems too wimpy, the 3005 has a larger engine that will do more work. |
