I am looking to buy one ,restored, and would like to know if leakage or breakdowns are common.Of course I assume if one is taken well cared for, maybe no problems. Thanks for any responses. They were really only for getting through the occasional tough areas in a field with same sized equipment as you'd have on a 2wd tractor. You couldn't expect to pull another bottom or 6 more feet to disk, but owners tried to use them like Four Wheel DRIVE. They would cook the hydraulic oil. On a combine or chopper, they were fine. They were used for many years after they were dropped from the tractors. In the end, they were a bad idea that stuck around too long (through the 40 series). If you want a collector to occasionally use with appropriately sized equipment, you shouldn't have any trouble with the Hydro FWA [Reply]  [No Email]

The only problem was the hydraulic system was not adequate to power the wheel motors. I also had the very same unit on the rear drive of a 860 Massey Combine and it worked great.
