I've searched the archives for hours now and learned quite a bit but I still have a couple questions. When I bought the 730 the flywheel bolts were loose and came off with ease. My questions are: 1 Will the splines on the Crankshaft be noticeable if they are worn? Will they wear evenly? 2. The inside of the flywheels splines are slightly tapered. About the last 1/4-1/2in of the flywheel splines drop off. Are they made that way or is that my notice to get the taper-loc fix? The crankshaft and flywheel splines look very good and even except that last 1/4-1/2 of the flywheel. I'm going to follow others advise with the new grade 8 bolts and tourque it down properly first. Then I'll go from there. Basicly just worried about the flywheel being tapered on the inside. I know looks can be deceiving but the crank looks good. Thank's for all the good info I've received. |

| Start saving $$$ for a taper-loc. Don't torque the new bolts past 275lb ft. More torque will just crack the flywheel casting web. Some folk claim that using the Loc-Tite primer and then the toughest Loc-Tite goop will sometimes hold a flywheel for a while. |
