I have a '53 420w and I'm having problems with the PTO jumping out of gear. It only does it when its under a load. I have a mechanic looking at it and he says I need a new fork and gear that they are worn. So does anybody know where I might find these parts. Thanks for your time.

Phase 1(1956)--All green tractors-vertical steering wheel. Instead of medallion, has "JOHN DEERE" in chrome, on grill.
Phase 2(1957)--Yellow paint on hood, medallion on grill.
Phase 3(1958)--Slant steering wheel, except High Crop and LP fueled tractors.

| Is there anything stopping the pro lever making full travel? I had to grind a little off the lever on my tractor to allow the forks to make full travel.

| | Dave Cook in WI may have a serviceable one, think it is caled a coupler. There is also a detent ball and spring on the side of the trans, but I am sure your mechanic has checked it. I would make sure of the year and model also. probably you just did a typo on the year for the 420.
