I haven’t run my tractor for about a year and a half. I need it at my new house to level dirt and knock down weeds. I went to get it ready and found that the gas had all run into the crankcase. :-( also the engine was stuck from sitting. I put PB blaster in the cylinders and rocked it back and forth in 6th and freed it. Changed oil and filter, fixed sediment bowl to old style with a manual shutoff to avoid 400 dollar part to replace the one with the oil pressure auto shutoff, rerouted oil pressure line, new plugs and wires, new coil. Had spark plug wires reversed for awhile and couldn’t get it started, HUGE backfire! shot flame out the stack about a foot and a half. Switched wires and runs awesome now and ITS ALIVE! I even fixed the AM radio! It works now too! I was so pissed at myself for letting the engine get stuck and not taking care of Grandpa"s tractor. Got it running at about midnight last night. Thanks for all the help and advise from the forum! will try to post a picture here soon. |

| Dont feel bad i replaced my points in my D and took the cap off and wires. Its a hand start and i cranked and cranked on it until i hurt my back.It wouldnt hit and every now and then it would backfire. So the next day i took both plugs out and turned it over to see if the plugs were firing. They were both firing and come to find out i had the wires backwards.I switched them back and it fired right up.I could of sworn i had them right but sometimes the brain plays tricks on you. Good luck to you. |
