Anticipating a clutch rebuild... wondering if there are certain parts that can be expected to be worn/bad enough to warrant replacement. One item that comes to mind is Clutch Dogs or Toggles...? Welcoming your input on what I might start looking for now, in anticipation of a future rebuild. |

| A good cleaning and relubing will do wonders for them. I also deglaze the metal facings. I like to use a sandblaster on the ones I can remove. |

| You may have to knock the rear tire out to get the pully assembly all the way off the crank. The first time I did my "A" I had a bit of trouble getting the clutch drive disk off. I cranked on the bolts to the point that I thought the disk might break before it finally let go. Now that I've done it a couple times, a trick that works well is to loosen up the center bolt just a couple turns, use half inch nuts and bolts to put a bit of pressure on the drive disk like the jd manual says to, and then give the center bolt a sharp blow from a ball pein hammer. |

| | You will need to disassemble the clutch before you will know what to replace. Some typical parts that might need renewing include the bearing and bushing that ride on the crankshaft, the clutch disks of course, maybe the t-bolts and toggles, and if you are unlucky, the clutch driver and crankshaft if the splines are damaged.
