| | Pete, first check to ensure you have adequate fuel delivery. (Open the drain on the bottom of the carburetor bowl and make sure a steady stream runs out continuously. If you collect a pop can full of gasoline, and it still keeps up a steady stream, you can be confident no supply lines or screens are clogged.) Then, make sure the fuel level in the bowl is correct. You can either check the float setting or you can get or make one of those little flexible tube gauges that connect to the bowl drain and allow one to monitor the actual fuel level inside the bowl. After your carburetor has passed those tests, it's likely that things are still clogged up inside the carburetor. I'll refer to you the link below (Pat Browning's carburetor information) which is pretty good, and includes information and instructions for properly cleaning all the passageways in those carburetors. |

| | I forgot to mention something else. Check to make sure your choke closes properly. Those DLTX-26 and DLTX-46 carbs have little spring-loaded flapper valves built into the choke butterfly. I've heard of situations where the spring on the flapper fails, and as a result the choke, although physically closed, doesn't really choke since the flapper lets air through the butterfly... Accordingly, if your throttle is opened and the choke is "closed" (or what you think is closed), there really isn't enough suction through the carburetor to draw fuel into the system... |
