I know my 5320 is not an antique to go along with my 50s, 720d & B, but I thought I'd try to get some feedback. I have a 2002, 5320 2wd cab tractor with 3450 hours on it. I use it primarily for "hay" work and running a 7ft bush hog to clip pastures, during the summer months, ..using a 447 round baler, NI 5209 disk MOCO and a 13 ft rotary rake. After haying is done it sits in the shed.. Here's the maintenence list. Replaced: clutch, hydraulic pump (broke a shaft), oil cooler(cracked casting), radiator(multiple leaks/seepage), spun the bearing holding the drive shafts in the bell housing, leading to a machine shop repair(this one was dangerous as the PTO would just start up..caught me once while I was working on the rake). The sync shuttle works good when shifting from 2 to reverse in all ranges.. but don't try to quickly try to shift into the 3rd and 1st gear positions..what a pain. I keep it greased but the front end..pins, spindles, bearings, etc.. were just replaced/rebuilt this past winter.I have to use front end weights as the 1300 pound Bush Hog will put the front end into the air..rather easily. Anybody else find these machines to be rather maintenence prone? A friend of mine said I use my 5000 series as a 6000 series and should have purchased a bigger more subatantial tractor..is he right.?? Thanks |

| 9F/3R....isn't the sync shuttle only meant to go between 2 and R? Those positions are inline on the stick aren't they?
Seems like a lot of repairs...but I always "heard" to avoid the 5000, 5010, 5020, 5025 series tractors as "repair prone" |

| I have a 5520. I've had excellent service and not problems in 2,500 hours. |

| | I've not heard of one particular 5020 series having that many problems. Clutches were a regular thing when I worked on them everyday. I did have to replace an oil cooler and radiator on one because of a leak on the cooler internally. As for using the 5000 like a 6000. From what you discribed I would say you you have close to the right tractor. A 6000 is a lot better tractor in every area except cost. You are going to pay for one but its also a better tractor. Sorry about your luck. Sorry about your luck on this one. Chris |

| I really like the way my 5320 operates and it is a much more capable tractor than the 1630 it replaced, but they aren't built heavy enough in some areas. Mine has the powereverser shuttle and I have had the park locking pawl bust out 3 times. It gets used almost daily with the loader so I hope I don't run into the same problems you have had, the park lock is bad enough. Have to split the tractor to fix it, it's a poor design. 6000 series is more rugged. |
