I"m working on a 730 gas that the exhaust gasket had burned out quite some time ago and the tractor was cotinued to be used. The exhaust port on top of the head on the clutch side has burned away from the hot exhaust gas blowing through. Has anyone had the head welded up and machined back to the correct height? |

| | I do as rla said below. Take the head off and mill them and give them a usually overdue valve job. Worth the extra effort. I have had occasion to do them on the tractor too. Stuff wet rags in the hole and cover up the other ones with metal. Built up the low spot with ni-rod and then with a grinder and a straight edge try and bring it back close. |

| I feel the only good fix is to remove the cyl head. Have it plained at a machine shop. You can take alott of metal off the top of the head & not hurt or change it.. Might as well rework the head while it's off... If it isn't too bad & just won't a gasket good Permatex makes a Ultra High temp RTV Silicone sealer that does wonders. ##765-1135.. had better check the manifold as well.... |
