I wonder if anyone can recall the name of the outfit that has started selling rebuild kits for the LP gas regulator/vaporizers on tractors such as mine. It is a factory LPG 1955 model 70, with the Century unit. Any help would be much appreciated. |

I have purchased some from Davenport Tractor. $100 a kit and $22 for the high pressure valve, last time I bought one.

Thank you very much. Was the one you bought satisfactory? Everything you needed? Again, thanks for your helpful reply.

The kits worked fine and I recommend getting the high pressure valve as well, unless you know yours is fine. Do yourself a big favor and purchase JD service manual SM-2015. You can rebuild the unit without a book but there are some adjustments, and the book contains troubleshooting, principle of operation, etc. Good to have even if you only plan to rebuild one for yourself. Installation of the high pressure diaphragm can be a little tricky. I also had to remove a nut from one of my old diaphragms and install it on the new one due to diameter of the nut, and a spring that mounts on top of it. Hope this helps.

It certainly does help. One more question though: the high pressure valve; is that the electric valve that cuts the lpg off whenever you turn off the ignition switch? That is, the valve that is physically separate from both the tank and the regulator/vaporizer? Thanks again so much.

What you are describing sounds like the fuel shutoff solenoid/filter body assy. The high pressure valve just looks like an inlet fitting on the side of the LP converter (regulator/vaporizer, as you called it). It is where the fuel comes into the converter, and on the inside, at the same location, is the small high pressure diaphragm I said was a little tricky to install. Definitely get the service manual, as it will answer all of your questions. E-mail is always open. I don't look back much once the post gets this far back.
