What exactly are they not doing? May be just need a little adjusting and sharpen the twine cutters.

That is a yes no or maybe thing due to the fact a 14T is an old baler and many of the guys who knew them have long since retired so it is getting hard to find people that understand them old thing. A few years back we called around to a number of JD dealers to find a guy who knew them and ended up pull a baler about 75 mile to get it fixed since it was the only place that said they had a person and this guy we found out wa not any good any how

Believe it or not (no pun intended) new knotters that are "8" series style can be installed. There is a special bushing or spacer to accomodate the smaller needle lift shaft. The knotters are not cheap and may cost more than the baler is worth.

Yes the price was $1100 ea. 2 years ago....but they are split so you can take them off the shaft easy. And you do need a bushing, I was able to make them with an old lathe. On a 336 though.

A good knotter man should be able to repair it.The knotters in JD balers are still the same unit today and tie the same knot. Parts might be the only problem. There should be used stuff out there, deere made a lot of those balers.

If your dealer has a mechanic that has been working on the old square balers and if parts are available they could do it, but depending on what it needs parts are probably made of unobtainium, and there's not a lot of guys still around that have much experience with those old knotters. And it'll probably cost more than that 50+ year old baler is worth. Maybe you can find a retired mechanic that would take it on for you or give you some pointers so you can do it yourself.
