I have a 1949 JD Model A. I cannot get the Amp meter to work. I have had the Generator rebuilt, new Voltage Regulator, it is putting out 13.3 volts with 5 amps, on the test bench. I have rewired, I have the battery side of the regulator going to one side of the amp meter. The wire coming up from the starter, goes to the other side of the amp meter. both wires are hot. I have tried a new amp meter, with the same results. Thank you, Tut in NM |

| Thanks for your reply. Now I hope to clear up what I tried to say. When I said the wires were hot, I meant with electricity. The wire does come from the battery, the other wire comes from the battery side of the voltage regulator. I do have it wired according to the manuals. Dwight |

| Dwight,I hope you mean they are hot after you hook them through the amp meter,a amp meter works in series which means it provides a path for the current, one side should go to the same lug as the battery cable is on the starter, the other side should go to a terminal blockor the voltage reg. bat. terminal. This will be the power feed from the batt. to the switch and lights, coil, etc. If you take a wire off the ampmeter the tractor will not run,it should be your main power feed to all the accessories on the tractor.Flash the field on the regulator to polorize and you should be good to go. |

| I just took a look at a wiring diagram. The battery side of regulator to amp meter is right . But the other side of amp meter should go to battery. |
