4020 Gas Carb hard starting

Have a 4020 gas with MS carb. If it sits for a day or so it takes quite a few cranks to get going. It seems like the carb has to be refilled with gas. Anyone have a idea on what is happening? Thanks for and ideas.

The carb. could be leaking off fuel or so could the check valves in the fuel transfer pump ?

If the fuel tank is nearly full, should not be problem of fuel bleeding back as it would be gravity fed. Does your transfer (fuel) pump have a lever on it? You could pump fuel to the carb before starting and see if it helps.

Roger has a good idea, pump up the transfer pump before trying to start, if it makes a difference, replace the pump. Also see if it makes a difference with a full tank.
