4020 Hy-Gard

I"ve got a late 4020 powershift and looking at the manual it says to change the filters at 600 hours and Hy-Gard at 1,200 hours. It"s been 8 years and 400 hours since fluid and filters were changed. Is there any reason to change more than the filters at this point? Last thing I want is powershift problems.

Moisture(detrimental to wet clutch lings) can build up in hyd oil over a period of time from ambient temp fluctuations.

Probably O.K. but with the price of repairs I would change it just to make sure.If I had a late powershift I would take real good care of it because they seem to be getting hard to find.

Ferd, I've owned 4020's for many years. I've always changed the filter every year and the oil every other year, regardless of hours. I often take out oil that looks fine but in my estimation oil is cheaper than repairs. It must be working because I have had no transmission or hydraulic trouble in that time. I keep the old hydraulic oil to use as a flushing agent for dead tractor engines and transmissions on the old tractors. Mike

Thanks for the responses. My inclination was to change it and now I feel way better about doing that. The old ounce of prevention is probably worth several pounds of cure in this case.
