A young friend of mine made the deal on the 4960 that had been setting in the brush since 1992. He drained the old fuel out of it, put fresh in and new battery's,,it started right up, every thing worked..the tach has 12 hours on it. He plans on farming with it. The price has not been reveiled yet,,It has found a good home,,I'll get another picture of it after he gets it waxed up..

Glad to hear that tractor is getting a new home, setting in the brush was just a shame. Would definitely appreciate some pictures of it all cleaned up.

Out of curiosity, do you know what happened to the 4430 and 8850?

its a shame that it set outside for so many years hopefully its a good tractor since its new practically and in good shape it appears even tho being uncovered

Yes another guy bought the 8850,4430 and a 68 4020, I heard he paid $25,000 for the three units, I went to look at them last Sat (they were on a different farm) and they were gone, I could see where they were just cut loose out of the brambles..

Hi there i wonder were the 8850 and 4430 also never used? Is there more information or pictures of this tractors?

Yes, they were farmed with but I don't know the hours, the 8850 was bought used, the 4430 was sold new at the dealer I use to work at, I delivered it in 1976, I'm sure it was low hours. I am not sure where the 4960 was sold at, it had 12 hours on it, and a young friend (30's) bought it and a 4020 and a 3020,both older models..

Amazing it fired right up !

I wonder if the antifreeze has eat up the liners from sitting ? But since it wasn't ran maybe it was as if it was still sitting in a bottle on the shelf ?

That's what I would have thought, bottled up and waiting,, the "wild" ideas were going in all directions around here about what "could" be wrong with it,,some thought that the gears would be rusted bad where ever they weren't covered with oil, the mice would have the wiring ate up, the starter would be bad,,the pistons stuck,,all "coffee Shop" talk..the guy that bought it said there was some rust forming under the hood labels,,,he said it started like it had been waiting for 20 years for some one to do it...new batteries, and fresh fuel was all they did..The guy that bought it lives about 10 miles from me, when he gets it waxed up I'll get a "after' pic of it...

Thats amazing the 4960 only had 12 hours on it. Would be interesting to see what kind of money figure there was. Glad it went to a good home. Thanks for the update.
