4020 Battery cables

Have a 4020 and the battery cables that go past the clutch springs are wearing pretty thin. Curious what you guys suggest? Hate to buy new cables if I can safeguard these..

I have protected some cables and hoses by slitting a piece of heater hose lengthwise and putting it over the cable or hose

A length of garden hose works good also. If you've been wondering why you saved that old, leaky garden hose, now you know.
