4020 HYD. REMOTE

I have a friend with a 1967 model 4020 and the hydraulic remote doesn't work but the 3 pt. hitch does, any ideas what could be wrong with this? I have a chance to trade a 1020 gas tractor for this but I don't know what I'd be getting into. Thanks again.

It could be a broken detent cam lever, these are not easey to repair..I would consider swapping it out for a salvage yard replacement, not hard to change one...but nasty to repair them..

I agree JD engineers must have burnt many a gallon of midnight oil to make the scv and steering valves so complicated to adjust.

It could be something complicated that has broken in the SCV itself or nothing more than the roll pin on the rocker shaft broken and not letting the cams work. While not easy for just anyone to service they aren't too bad to work on. See if the lever has any "feel" to it. If you do not feel a detent or any stiffness check this roll pin. If you do feel the detent then there are greater problems. First of all, though, there is an obvious question. Did you have the faucet levers turned on? Mike
