4020 How many slab weights?

I have looked everywhere I can think of but can"t find any info on how many slab weights I can add to the front of my 4020. I"m using a single stack starter (only because I can"t find a double for sale)and the grade 5 hardware from Deere. I"m currently carrying 5 slabs but would like to go to 8 without hearing a bang and stringing 700lbs of weights down the road.

A Deere tech told me he has seem 4020"s carrying 10 slabs in a single stack with no problems. Setting aside the length they would stand proud of the front, It seems to me 10 weights would be pushing it but I don"t know.

check the operators manual. The manual of a 6030 says, 2 times 7 for the double stack. The weights are the same

hope this helps for you

not sure if it was recommended but we had 13 on ours before when we had the cultivater on the back.... man that sticks out a long ways

10 weights sounds like an awful lot. Ive got five slabs on my 4020 and I think to get eight I would require new bolts which I think Id have to go to grade eight for that much weight. Just make sure your tires can handle the extra weight or instead of a bang and weights on the ground youll hear bang and your tires are flat.

I'd keep looking for a double stacker- as the main weight adds 300lbs itself. They really start to sag downward after 4-5 weights 8 is alot hanging out there. You wouldn't string 700 lbs of weight down the road either- it'd be ONE 700 chunk of weights as the first set of bolts would likely break first. I have seen pics of 5020 with 7-8 weights hanging out there- so it can be done. If it was me I'd forget they were hanging out there and stick them through the shed wall when I parked it- :(

we have had ten on a single stack pulling and we have had 20 on a double stack pulling and they never fell off. I have 2 double stack brackets that i would sell for 350 a set and i have a large number of slabs avalible. If we can help you just shoot me an email.

I've never seen the flat frt weights sag if they were installed correctly. There's a 3020 here at my place with 7 that's definitely not sagging but I think that 7 is the most JD recommended.
