4020 - Strange spike on chassis

Hello all
I just wondered if anyone could help identify what this spike is for on the chassis of our 4020. There is an identical one on the other side aswell.

Is it something to do with a weight frame? I've looked through all the 4020 pics we have and can't see anything like it on any other.

Thanks, Peter

That tractor has likely had a front mounted cultivator on it at some time. These "spikes" help center the brackets so the cultivator can be bolted to the tractor. Mike

That style (quick-tach)mounting peg is used only for JD cult.; models AT40 ; & AT630 4 & 6 row front mount cults. AT series cults. were made just for 20 series tractors... FM series replaced them..

Those broken out holes hold the front support on the tractor. The front weights and/or cultivator then bolted to the support .The support boltet to steering motor wit 4 5/8 bolts and 300 ft lbs . I cant imagine how you would break this off. It will need a new steering motor houseing to fix this .
