I bet he would sell it for the right price, I’m not sure what he would consider the right price though, I already offered him $300 but no luck and I’m his best friend. The engine isn’t stuck but isn’t running and there are some missing parts like the starter and battery cover and left brake and all 4 tires are bad. I’ve been bugging him to start trying to get her running but he is too busy right now. I aint never seen a slant dash B before this one, I think they were only made 2 years. He bought the slant dash B and a slant dash A at the same time and they both came with a full set of front and rear cultivators, the A seems to be in slightly better shape. There are more pics of them in that photo bucket link in the other reply. |

| I believe I have all youd need to make electric start, and put the battery under the carb on the frame like the G john deeres did it the early 40s. |

| The 1940 B could have been equipped from the factory with electric starting. It would have had a "slant dash" if it had any electrics(starter, or lights, or starter and lights) The parts were available to convert hand start tractors to electric then and if you can come up with the parts it still can be changed. You will need flywheel with ring gear, starter and mounting bracket and either an original or makeshift place to mount a battery and cables and switch etc. |

| I have a "39 Slant Dash B. It"s not that way from the factory. It was added later, but with that said, it"s VERY hard to find the correct parts to make it a true correct electric start and expensive. I had to find some parts for my tractor, and it took over 6 months to find all the electric start parts. If I had to do it over again, I would just make it hand crank or buy a newer model JD B. |
