For a John Deere 4010D with a 24 volt system, is there wisdom in placing circuit breakers or fuses inline at the starter where the harness leads up to the ignition switch? I have seen breakers installed at the voltage regulator but there seems to be potential for shorts before that point. |

| | That's "old hat" at DEERE. Mounting kit is # AR47674, @ about $21.00. You will also need 2 # AR47710 breakers @ about $65.00 each and some wire and wire ends. |

| I rewired my 4020 several years ago because the wires were aging, and I was bothered that the only protection was circuit breakers for the lights. The new wiring harness came with a bracket and two main circuit breakers mounted right at the starter. |
