i need to figure out why when i go to hook this brown wire up to the solenoid it archs really hard. maybe the ignition switch is bad causing the two 12 volt sides to short together. I hate to just replace parts. |

| Remove the solenoid, take it apart and see if it has arced/melted the contact points. Low batteries will cause this. |

| Check with a ohm meter to find the short to chassis from the brown wire. |

| i checked for continuity between brown wire and chassis, there is none, had starter checked and they put new solenoid on but still has short. maybe the generator has a short inside. i checked the rubber isolator that the regulator is mounted on and there is no short to chassis there, guess the ignition swithh could be bad also, im lost |
