I had problems getting my A to run properly. A local mechanic sold some NOS AC C88L plugs and she ran nicely. Now I purchased a few AC C88L's to find that the reach is about an 1/8" less than the NOS. It doesn't seem to want to fire/fire well with the newer version of plugs. I called AC Delco about this. I told the rep about the difference in length of the plugs and how the tractor responds differently. He immediately said he has heard about this and it was related to older John Deere tractors. I didn't mention the brand. Anyone else have a similar situation? Autolite 388's don't seem to help like the NOS C88L's did. I had the engine rebuilt with M&W pistons (.090 over) with about 125 psi compression the cylinders. Thanks, |

| | What I have found after working on many of these is that it is not usually just the spark plug that is causing the problem. Have you checked the cap and rotor, points, and, if it is a distributor, the condensor and coil? Also, don't overlook the plug wires. My G was very particular on the plugs that it used to eat, but now, with everything cleaned up and refreshed, it even runs on Champions! Good luck! |

| If its fouling the plug then you may want to try an autolite 3116. It a non-resistor plug. I have a 50 G that is 0.090 over and it did not run well with 388's but alot better with 3116. Is it fuel fouling the plugs or just running rough? |
