4020 Highcrop

I have the opportunity to buy a 4020 highcrop for $5000. It is in original (weathered) condition and it appears complete. Would this be a good investment and is there anything I should look for (tags, serial no., etc.)?

Considering only 187 were made...that's a steal. I would grab it quick. If it runs that's even better. Regular 4020's around hear in decent shape go for 10k+. I saw one in the photo ads recently and I seem to recall in being listed at 50k+ in price in restored condition.

Thanks for the information. I went and looked at the tractor in detail and it is over my head for restoration. I am going to try to help him sell it. I hate to see it junked out.

As a side note he has two more highcrops that are running and one 5020 that is not.

There were a few more hi-crops than Brian thought 502 64/68 and 285 69/72 still very rare and the tag would have value.It seems the new generation JDs have gained popularity the last few years and are selling well.
