4020 2nd remote

I just bought a 2nd remote kit for my early 4020. The kit I bought has rubber lines rather than the original steel. What side do the lines hook into the control valve? Do they hook into the right side like the 1st remote or left? It kind of looks like if I try to use the left side the hood would hit the lines. Thanks for any help.

Mainly to use a hydraulic hay rake. It requires 2 hookups. One to run the rakes and adjust them. The other to lift the baskets up and down.

You want to connect the rake's supply to a power beyond circuit and return the oil the tractor via ported oil filter cover.
Returning oil back through the scv's when using high demand continuous equipment will starve the front pump. The transmission low pressure pump that supplies the front pump flows fewer gpm than the front pump.
The scv's top out at about 12gpm even when turned to "rabbit" and the rake may require more flow than that.

Steve, the lines for the second remote valve also connect to the right side.
The return oil from the SVC's goes to the oil cooler and then to the hydraulic pump. You will not need any extra hook ups or power beyond equipment.

Only 1 of the numerous 4020s we've had came with 2 circuits and I've done what you're doing several times, with ........as b & d would put it........some farmer engineering. It's probably gonna take some judicious/minor modification of the hood. Never bought a kit, as such, just parts from a salvage yard (10 or 20 series will both work) and hoses from parts house or dealer.

Wrong! The SCV valve oil returns directly to the filter, there's no need for odd ball plumbing to accomplish that. And there is no rabbit on the EARLY 4020. The valve is up on the fire wall with and the flow rate is a screwdriver adjustment, not a knob, with only the hose connection out back. Make sure of your tractors before you post.

If the ported filter cover wasn't required. Why does Mother Deere list ported filter covers for every 10 through 55 series Mannheim, Dubuque and Waterloo tractor?
The 4020 used the 2000 series Single Bank pumps. In either the 50cm or 65cm sizes rated for 30.2gpm or 39.5gpm at 2500rpm.

The ported filter cover is demanded when you tap the high pressure (like at the elbow just in front of the brake pedals) for an auxiliary valve like for a loader. Then the return goes to that ported filter cover. Adding a closed center valve that way is one easy way to add a remote, though it needs a flow restriction valve like I showed at www dot geraldj dot networkiowa dot com slash images slash hydraulicmanifold dot jpg

Otherwise the plumbing for the original dash mounted remote valves return to the plumbing is be at the oil filter which is enough above atmospheric pressure that single acting cylinders won't close even in the float position with the tractor running unless they are loaded. You can't push one in by hand, I've tried several times. That way with a double acting valve the return oil flow just about matches the high pressure oil and the front pump never starves.

The hydraulics of the early 4020 and 4010 are very much different from the late 4020, yet these details are about the same.

What 4020(SN 201000-) parts catalog do you find T31170 listed in?

It's not in parts catalog # 1116 on JDparts.com when I just searched!!!!!!!!!
