4020 3 point under load going down

Hi all, have a 1965 4020 powershift that when i let the 3 point down, it seems like its fighting itself under pressure to go down. when it gets just about 3/4 of the way down, the engine smoothes out and the arms drop smoothly. till that point sounds like the engine is under a bit of a laod and the arms go down really slow. any thoughts?

The load control linkage needs adjusting per JD tech manual or the pressure/return valve clearance in the control valve is set too wide. Have you tried changing the L/D setting by your right leg under seat?

i have not as of yet but will try that and see what happens. from what i have been reading on other spots i want to have it in the D position it looks like. all i really use the 3 point for is a blade and bale mover.

"D" setting is correct for any implement but a plow.
