4020 -Better put mine in the corner under a blanket

I can't blame him for the asking price as he probably has close to that in it with all of the repairs he has done. The buyer will decide what the real value is. I did a 4020 myself, just to keep and use and ended with real close to that in it also. No regrets, though, as the 4020 will outlast a new 100 horse tractor by many hours. Not the way most would look at it, but it works for me.

They don't list any engine or trans repair, they are high on it,,but I agree the 4020's are very good chore tractors they will do a big job if they need to and work well with small jobs central Ohio is full of them, I almost always have 1 or 2 in the shop we fix them up and send them back to the front line, some of them are "extremely" used,,2 of them that I work on have the tread crooves worn of the clutch peddle,, When I'm out and about some one will come up to me with small talk then change ther voice to a revernt state and say " I'd like to ask you about my 4020" almost like talking about a sick family member,,and in a way they are..

A 71 4020 with rops and canopy, ps sold for 17,500 at one auction and 69 4020 ps also sold for 17,500 at different auctions about 50 miles apart about two weeks apart in cen IL this fall and they were both good originals. There was a sale this week in western Il with some 4020's I wasnt able to go but these are the listed results. There was a below average condition side console diesel synchro range that went for 8000. A nice condition earlier model with synchro range also brought 8000. A early model in below average coniditon diesel power shift brought 6500. A below average earlier 4020 gas synchro with aftermarket wf went for 3700. The nicest condition and most interesting tractor was a 1971 3020 gas powershift that went for 10,750. Just from looking at the result the best deal would have been either a below average console 3020 gas synchro for 3800 or a below average 3010d for 2350 but I really dont need anymore projects but that 71 3020 gas powershift would have looked nice in the shed sitting next to my 71 3020 gas synchro!

I sure like our gas model ! Great for cold weather. And nice thing is it has under 6000 hours. Sure alot tighter machine then most diesels. Have a 158 loader on it and a 9' 115 rear blade and add tire chains and it really works to remove the snow. It's at Dad's house. Sure wish I had it at my place yesterday !

That guys retarted if he thinks he's going to get that out of any 4020. Yes, the tractor is very nice looking, but he's asking about 15-20K too much, no matter what the economy is.

I’d be happy to pay $32,000 for a brand new 4020, so if it were completely restored to factory specs as new condition then I’d be more than happy to pay that. You couldn’t get a brand new tractor anywhere today with that kinda power and reliability for anywhere near that price. However I seriously doubt this tractor is “completely” restored and if it were he would probably have even more $$$’s in it.

Maybe Deere should put all their laid off workers to work building NEW 4020's ! Bet they would keep real busy. Just have to pay them low like Wal Mart non union workers ( and me )should have no problem finding help or selling the end product.

My 4020 doesnt really have any tread left on any of the three pedals except for the extreem LH side of the LH brake pedal and the extreem RH side of the RH pedal.

It's in the high 19,000's in hours now. 3 engines, 5 clutches, 2 PTO brakes, 2 sets of service brakes, 2 main hyd pump rebuilds, 2 trans hyd. pump, synchronizers, and a set of shift linkages.... She's been around the block, but still very reliable and functional. It started in an emergency at less than 10 degrees without any assistance of block heater or ether. She's a good one!

It is family as you say. My grandfather bought it new in 1970. 39 years old this year!

The original never actually died, but it became sooted up on the inside of the glass. We had to break the glass to see the numbers. We replaced it with one of those fantastic Mexican tachs, but they dont last until the water gets hot. We are on number three of those, so I guess 4 tachometers to answer you question, but the last three combined have lasted less than 400 hours. At least the one I have now made it past 100 hours. Thats a new record.
